Ahead of spring 2025, Intrum wanted to put extra focus on health and wellbeing in the organization. The ambition was to combine a fun activity competition with getting employees to complete new health checks in Wellr – while at the same time increasing office attendance after a period of hybrid work. They chose a Teamwalk concept, which, with its team spirit and clear structure, was a perfect fit.
Setup Over 10 working days, the teams competed to collect steps through joint walks. At least 70% of the team had to take part in each walk for it to count – which created both motivation and a sense of togetherness. Extra steps could also be earned by doing health tests.
We had a chat with Maja Fransson, HR Partner at Intrum Sweden
What was the background to choosing Teamwalk as the format for the step challenge?
We wanted to run an activity competition and health checks as part of a broader health initiative during the spring. In combination with that, we wanted to increase attendance at our offices. IntrumWalk gave us the opportunity to achieve both.
What goals did you have with the challenge?
The goal of the challenge was to increase employees’ presence at our offices, strengthen the sense of community, and encourage everyday physical activity and fresh air. And last but not least – increase engagement!
How did employees respond to the challenge? The challenge was well received and there was a high level of engagement from both team leaders and team members. Photos were posted of walking teams in all kinds of weather, and there were also several walks carried out jointly between different teams, which was great fun.
How did it work in practice that the team leaders were responsible for reporting the walks? It was a simple setup in Wellr for those who were team leaders, so it was basically impossible to do it wrong. We had a team leader forum where they received information and had the opportunity to ask questions.
