How we feel at work affects our whole life. We know that. Yet it’s often our health that ends up being pushed aside when the pace picks up and the calendar overflows. That’s why it’s especially valuable when someone pauses, looks at the bigger picture and says: “This really matters – for real.” That’s exactly what the Public Health Agency of Sweden does in its latest annual report. And we at Wellr have read it with great interest. Here are some of the key insights we’re taking with us.
These are some of the most important insights from the report:
Stress and mental ill-health are increasing, especially among young people and women
Many people have a working life that lacks crucial elements: recovery, security, clarity and support
More preventive work is needed in workplaces, and it has to happen in time
The Public Health Agency also emphasizes that health cannot be seen as an individual challenge. It’s something we create together – through how we lead, collaborate and talk to each other.
Preventive work is not something “extra” – it’s an investment The report is clear: we have to stop waiting until it’s too late. Preventive measures are not a bonus or a soft issue. They are a prerequisite for people to feel well, stay, and be able to do a good job.
It’s about:
- having the courage to talk more about how we actually feel
- listening before things have gone too far
- acting early, not when the problems have already grown big
- seeing health as a shared responsibility – not just something for HR
Health should not be a side issue We know it can feel difficult to know where to start. But every step counts. Every conversation makes a difference. Every small change can have a big impact – both for the individual and for the entire organization.
Health at work is not an optional extra. It’s the foundation.
