Most people already know that exercise is good – in many different ways. For employers, reduced costs, more efficient employees and fewer sick leaves are some of the benefits.
Employees who are in good physical condition become more efficient at work. You can read more about this in the article “Is good fitness necessary for a regular office job?”. In fact, if poorer fitness results in reduced efficiency by, for example, 10 percent, it will conservatively cost the employer one month’s salary per year without any work being done. If efficiency drops by 20 percent, that corresponds to two months’ salary, and so on. In addition to reduced efficiency, poor fitness also leads to an increased risk of illness and sick leave.
Regular exercise also provides a number of other advantages. Most people know that it increases energy expenditure, which has a beneficial effect on body weight. It also makes it easier to quit smoking and improves appetite regulation. Regular physical activity also improves sleep. This is particularly important, since good sleep is a prerequisite for valuable recovery and for long-term good health.
People who exercise regularly are also significantly more active in their leisure time than physically inactive people. An interesting fact – since those who do not exercise often use lack of time as their main argument!
Employees at companies that use Wellr have on average increased their level of physical activity by over 10 percent. Schematically, this can mean that a company with 100 employees increases its workforce by 10 people without having to pay any additional salary.
It starts at work!
